Canadian Women in Municipal Government Scholarship

The scholarship is open to female students enrolled in any year of study in secondary school and who are contributing to their school's leadership team or student council. There are five awards of $1000, each, with one award to be presented in each of the five regions of Canada (British Columbia, The Prairies and Territories, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada).

Usually applications open in October.  Check the website below for details, updated info, and application deadline.   Application deadline is likely in January. 

BC Excellence Scholarships

There are 55 BC Excellence Scholarships available to recognize well-rounded BC graduates. 

Winners will have demonstrated community service, both inside and outside schools, and shown aptitude and commitment to their chosen career path or area of post-secondary study.   They will receive a $5000 scholarship voucher to use for post-secondary tuition. 

Students must be nominated by their school.  If nominated, the student must submit an application to the Ministry of Education for adjudication by the selection committee.

Provincial Tuition Waiver Program (for former youth in care)

Applicant must be a former youth in care.  Contact your former social worker or see your school counsellor if you aren’t sure if you meet the criteria.

- must be entering full time post-secondary studies
- must be planning to complete a certificate, diploma, or degree program

Village Food Markets Scholarship

This scholarship is available to students who: 
- are present or past employees of Village Food Markets, or
- are children or grandchildren of present employees of Village Food Markets

The deadline is usually in May.

Trevor Linden Community Spirit Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to four students in BC who will be attending their first year of post-secondary education. Students must be in good academic standing  and have made exceptional contributions to: school and community service, leadership, community development, affecting positive change, mentoring others, personal development and growth, academic performance.

The Federation of Community Social Services of BC Youth Education Bursary

Applications usuallly open in January and the application deadline is usually in May.

The FCSSBC Youth Education Bursary assists young people that are or have been in care and want to pursue a career in the field of Human and Social Services. 

Bursaries support students with the financial costs of tuition, books, and supplies for post-secondary academic education, training, or upgrading. 

The bursary is available to a maximum of $2,000 per academic year.
