Canadian Mental Health Association Scholarships and Bursaries

Since 1982, CMHA BC has been helping people with mental illness further their pursuit of post-secondary education through our scholarship and bursary programs. We are committed to lowering access barriers and would like to ensure that these scholarships and bursaries are available to anyone in British Columbia with lived experience who is pursuing higher education. Learn more about our values.

Ted Rogers Scholarships

Ted Rogers Legacy Scholarship 

  • Valued at $100,000 over four years
  • Awarded annually to 10 students attending a technology-focused program at a partner university
  • Covers full tuition, living expenses, and other costs

Ted Rogers Future Leader Scholarship 

  • Valued at $26,800 over four years
  • Awarded annually to 100 students attending a partner university
  • Covers average tuition costs

These scholarships are for students planning to

CUPE Local 459 Bursary

To apply for this bursary, you must be planning to attend a recognized post-secondary educational institution or a career/apprenticeship training program.

THE BURSARY
Each bursary will be awarded for:
- Tuition or fees and the purchase of books, tools, or supplies needed to pursue studies or training in an apprenticeship, trade, or career program.
- Tuition toward instruction at a recognized institution of post-secondary education or training.

Dave Ravenhill Memorial Scholarship

The Dave Ravenhill Memorial Scholarship Application

Applicants must have competed in at least one LVISSAA approved sport during Grade 12. They must be enrolled in a LVISSAA member school and will be entering their first year of full-time studies in a University or College. Applicants must have demonstrated exceptional athletic achievement, sportsmanship and integrity in a LVISSAA sport, have a minimum grade percentage of 75% and have demonstrated outstanding service and leadership skills in school and/or community. 

Cmolik Foundation Scholarship

EMCS may nominate one student to put an application forward.

Submit a scholarship resume AND letter of application to your school counsellor by January 16 if you wish to be considered for nomination.  (The student who is selected for nomination must then submit their application on the Cmolik Foundation website by Feb. 7)

Horatio Alger Canadian Scholarships & National Entrepreneurial Scholarships

EARLY APPLICATION REQUIRED.  APPLY BY MARCH OF YOUR GRADE 11 YEAR.

The Canadian Scholarships and National Entrepreneurial Scholarships are awarded to eligible students across all provinces and territories in Canada.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Horatio Alger Canadian Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Sooke Community Association Scholarship

The Sooke Community Association offers a $1000 scholarship for a student entering any post-secondary program.

Additional criteria:  These scholarships will be awarded to students who are promising young citizens who are community-oriented, with a record of volunteer work.  

The Sooke Community Association wishes that financial assistance be offered to as many students as possible, so preference may be given to students not receiving other scholarships. 

Storwell Bursary

Application deadline is Dec. 31 each year. 

Storwell is offering an annual bursary of $2,000 in support of foster children to help them attend post-secondary schools and to offer a hand up as they make their way forward in life. The award is non-renewable, but candidates are welcome to apply for it once a year.

The successful candidate is an active member of their community, has excellent grades and displays financial need.

Support Our Troops National Scholarship Program

Many scholarships are available. 

Application usually opens at the start of May. Check the website for the updated deadline and other info.

Due to the unique circumstances of military life, funds for pursuing post-secondary education are a significant barrier for many Canadian Forces families. The National Scholarship Program works to remove some of those barriers.

Must be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or vocational program at an accredited Canadian  college or university, leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate.
