Student Enrolment Priorities

As a growing district, several of our schools frequently operate at or near capacity. When student demand exceeds a school’s available space, enrolment will be prioritized in the following order:

1.) Students re-enrolling at the school for the following school year

2.) Students with a sibling currently enrolled who will continue attending the school the following year

3.) Students residing within the school’s catchment area

4.) Non-catchment students who reside within the district

5.) Students residing outside the district

These enrolment priorities apply to all new registrations, transfer requests, and transitions from elementary to middle school and from middle to secondary school.

Please note that at École John Stubbs, the elementary and middle schools are considered separate schools. If you have a child currently attending École John Stubbs Middle School, or a child who will be attending the middle school the following September, and you are registering another child at École John Stubbs Elementary School, enrolment priority #2 does not apply.

In the event that space is limited and a middle or secondary school cannot accept all non-catchment student requests, priority will be given to non-catchment students already within the established school pathway over other non-catchment students who are not part of the pathway.

To reflect legislation of “Bill 40 - 2023” BC School Amendment Act 2023, Indigenous rights holders (specifically from the T’Sou-ke, Sc’ianew (Beecher Bay), and Pacheedaht First Nations) will have priority access to their respective Nation’s school of choice.
